BusinessBusiness Studies - taught at GCSE and A LevelStudents investigate the way businesses are organised, financed and operated. They gain an understanding of the roles and behaviour of people in the world of business and how external influences impact on business decision making. Students learn to use the language of business and develop those skills that enable them to analyse data and evaluate strengths and limitations of business methods in order to draw conclusions. Students use a range of resources during the course, but there is an emphasis on learning through case study material that reflects more closely those issues faced by firms. Business and Communication Systems - taught at GCSE.Students learn about many aspects of workplace organisation and communication. Whilst part of the course is devoted to learning about the theory associated with business organisation, the majority of the time is spent learning the practical communication skills needed in business today. Students develop their computer applications skills of word processing, desktop publishing, using spreadsheets and how to construct and use a database. What parents can do at homeHelp them with their homework - even when they say they don’t need any help. Remember, many of our courses are linked in some way to what really happens at work and the knowledge and experience parents have means they are usually well qualified to help out.
